In this video we will discuss how to find and apply both the Trim Entities and Extend Entities sketch tool exploring options and some tips, tricks and traps along the way. Back to the top - Video 187. Online SolidWorks - 11 - More on Symmetry applying the Midpoint Sketch Relation. In this video we will show you how to find and select the midpoint of a line, arc or an edge so that it can be applied for symmetry and additional modeling. Back to the top - Video 188. Online SolidWorks - 12 - Breaking Things then Fixing Errors – Dangling Dimensions and Relations. In this video we will create a model with constraints using dimensions and sketch relations then, with the rollback bar, we are going to change things that will break the model. This gives us an opportunity to look closely at some dangling relations and dimensions, why they occurred and how we can fix them. Also a discussion on the selection box and leader line conditions. With some tips, tricks and traps along the way. Back to the top - Video 190. Online SolidWorks - 14 - UI Tour, More on the Command-Manager, Heads-Up View Toolbar & Task Pane. In this video we will tour more of the SolidWorks User Interface, More on the Command-Manager, Heads-Up View Toolbar & Task Pane and various tools contained in them. On the Heads up Toolbar we will look at the various zoom options including: zoom to fit (F key), zoom to area, previous view – section view and options – view orientation and options including the shortcut spacebar – Display Style, shaded, shaded with edges (SWE), hidden line removed (HLR), hidden lines visible (HLV), wire frame – Hide show items – edit appearance – View Settings with various options. In the Task Pane we will look at the Design Library, and SolidWorks resources. Back to the top - Video 191. Online SolidWorks - 15 - More Extrude Options, Suppress and Hide, Borrow Sketch and Thin Features. In this video we will look at more options associated with the Extruded Boss/Base feature including the thin features and a bunch of tips, tricks and traps. We will also look at the difference between the hide show items and suppressing sketches and features and what they do to the model and how we can use them as a tool during modeling. We will also borrow a sketch from another feature and use that in a different feature which creates a different sketch symbol. We will also look at the thin feature for both adding thin items to our model or for cutting thin holes. We will also look at the creation of various Solid Bodies in our model (a part within a part) by using the two above functions. Back to the top - Video 192. Online SolidWorks - 16 - More Options, Up To Surface, Up to Vertex, Contour Select Convert Entities. In this video we will look at some more Smart Dimension leader options, Minimum, Center and Maximum positions. We will also look at some more feature options, and what they do including Up To Surface, Up To Vertex and Convert Entities. We will also cover some sketch options including Contour Select tool and Convert Entities and Region where we will use it to cut a hole out of a sketch used for another feature. Back to the top - Video 193. Online SolidWorks - 17 - Modeling Basics, Hiding Visible Sketches in the Graphics Area. In this video we will show you why some sketches show in the graphics area and how to hide them. Back to the top - Video 194. Online SolidWorks - 18 - Free Form Sketch with Arcs and Lines – Reference Geometry – Define As You Go. Modeling Basics - In this video we will show you how to sketch a freeform design made of just lines and arcs as opposed to simple circles and rectangles. The method is to fully define your lines and arcs, using reference sketch geometry, from the very beginning and building on this fully defined geometry as you go. We will visit Centerlines with midpoints, 3 Point Arc, Model Line, Angle Smart Dimension, Tangent Arc with options Centerpoint Arc, Radius Smart Dimension, Tangent line, Coincident sketch relation to the vertical Centerline, Mirror Sketch Entity and Symmetric sketch relations. We will also create some common errors, learn how to fix them and then how to validate your enclosed sketch geometry before you extrusion. Back to the top - Video 195. Online SolidWorks - 19 - Toolbar Tour, Hole Wizard Feature with Type, Options & Reference Geometry. Toolbar Tour - In this video we will show how to apply the Hole Wizard Feature and all of the whys and hows that go with it, plus some tips, tricks and traps along the way. You will learn what type of hole to choose, from a large library, plus the various options that go with your selection. We start by selecting the surface for the hole, creating some sketch related reference geometry, selecting the hole type with options then exploring what we just did to create that fancy hole. Back to the top - Video 228. Online SolidWorks Extras - 52 - Intro to Thin Feature, Linear Feature Pattern, Feature and Sketch Mirror, Slot Tool. How To - Apply the Thin Feature, Linear Feature Pattern, Sketch and Feature Mirror and the Slot Sketch Entity on the "L" Angle Project. Back to the top - Video 229. Online SolidWorks Extras - 53 - Intro to Freehand Sketching – Plastic-Hook - Fixing Sketch Errors and Draft Feature. An Introduction to Freehand Sketching- Creating a Plastic Hook while: Fixing Sketch Errors, applying the Draft as a separate feature and applying a Feature Fillet. Back to the top - Video 230. Online SolidWorks Extras - 54 - Applying Hole Wizard, Section Tool, Cosmetic Threads, Dimension From Hidden Features. How to Apply the Hole Wizard feature, the Section Tool to temporarily cut your model, applying a Cosmetic Thread, and dimensioning from and edge of a hidden feature. Back to the top - Video 231. Online SolidWorks Extras - 55 - Junction Box – Draft Angle, Convert Entities, Align Sketch, Dimension Hidden Edge. How to create a Junction-Box including the Draft Angle option in the Extruded Boss/Base Feature, Convert Entities (resulting in an on-edge Sketch Relation) on a surface with an undetermined dimensional edges to maintain parametric relations, placing holes from central planes, a justification for symmetric modeling and applying dimensions from hidden edges. Back to the top - Video 232. Online SolidWorks Extras - 56 - Wedge Guide with Contour Select, Hole Wizard, Convert & Offset Entities, Chamfer. How to create a Part named the Wedge Guide. The Base Feature starts by using the Contour Select tool and Mid Plane Extrude option. The Foot Tab is created applying the collinear Sketch Relation on the Right surface of the base feature then mirrored to the other side using the Feature Mirror. The Hole Wizard is used to place holes on the Foot Tabs using Reference Geometry in various locations to minimize dimensions. The top Wedge Plate Feature is used Converting and Offsetting entities from the existing model geometry. Front Feature Chamfers are applied to the front of the guide twice for each side since this is not applied as a symmetric feature. Limit switch pins are applied by borrowing from the Base Feature sketch and using the sketch Contour Select tool selecting a region and a contour. Back to the top - - Video 233. Online SolidWorks Extras - 57 - How To - Create a Symmetric Model with Same Features on Perpendicular Surfaces. This video will show you how to create a symmetric model with the same features on perpendicular surfaces. Back to the top - Video 234. Online SolidWorks Extras - 58 - The Magnetic Hook - How To – Create a Basic Draft Feature along with some Model and Sketch Cleanup. Back to the top - Video 235.
