Video 222. Online SolidWorks Extras - 46 - Revolved Boss/Base Feature - Wine Glass – Photo Real Rendering. In this video we will show you how to use various entities of sketch geometry to create a model of a wine glass, using the Thin Feature for an enclosed form. The second half of the video we will show you how to create some photo real renderings of the wine glass using PhotoView 360 Photo add-on program in SolidWorks. Back to the top - Video 211. Online SolidWorks - 35 - Modeling a Spur Gear Pair with Gear Ratio, Diametral Pitch & Number of Teeth. In this video, you learn what you need to do before you start the Spur Gear Design Project. Then using values for the Gear Ratio, Diametral Pitch and the number of teeth you’ll solve for the various other values discussed for both the pinion and gear wheel. We will then take these values to create solid sketch geometry to construct the gear base and tooth for both gears. After that an assembly will be created to test the gear pair using motion and Physical Dynamics. Email me for additional information on this project. Back to the top - Video 216. Online SolidWorks - 40 - What are all those Options in the Smart Dimension Dialog Box? In this video we will discuss all those options you see in the Smart Dimension dialog box and what they do. Demonstrating everything starting at the “Save the current value…” Green Check Mark to the “Restore the current value…” Red X to “Regenerate the model…” Traffic Light, “Reset spin increment…”, “Mark the dimension to be imported into a drawing” options. We will also talk about other options like renaming your dimension, choosing a Configuration and, the Spin Increment arrows and spin wheel. All of these add up to a bunch of powerful options in a very compact and convenient dialog box. Back to the top - Video 224. Online SolidWorks - 48 - Simulation Express for Engineering Analysis – Will it Break? Introduction Now that you have completed a part design – is it going to break? Using SolidWorks Simulation or Simulation Express will perhaps - provide that answer. In this video we will show you the basic steps involved in creating a stress analysis on a simple brass part. We will look at the material and the associated engineering data (including the yield strength), apply a fixture on a surface of the part then apply a force to see what may bend. Running the simulation will show our weaknesses giving us an opportunity to modify our part to add strength maybe without having to add any additional material. Back to the top - Video 226. Online SolidWorks Extras - 50 - Motion Study - an Introduction and Short Tour – to Get You Started. Now that you have a completed assembly that has moving components, lets study its motion. To start - we will open the Motion Study tab on the Status Bar and using the Sarrus Wheel assembly as an example we will take our assembly and make it move at different time intervals. To accomplish this we will take our vertical time bar and at each chosen time increment we will move the Sarrus Wheel (which will drive various other components in our assembly model) a portion of its rotation for each 2 second interval up to 20 seconds. We will also discuss various visual properties that can be turned on or off and modified along the way while exploring various options. Back to the top - Video 210. Online SolidWorks - 34 - Convert a Part with Bends into a Sheet Metal Part - with a Flat Pattern. In this video we will show you some basics on how to convert a part that resembles something that can be made out of sheet metal and convert it into a Sheet Metal part in SolidWorks. Keeping in mind that we are now Designing For Manufacturing (DFM), we’ll start by discussing the existing part then clean it up fixing chamfers fillets and feature order. We will then convert the part into a Sheet Metal Part looking at the previews, discussing various options along the way and finally exploring the flat pattern as a way to demonstrate a DFM result. In this video we will show you how to create a reasonable looking logo using MS Word and Word Art. Back to the top - Video 255.
