Video 217. Online SolidWorks - 41 - Drawings Part 1: Inserting Part, Layers, View Titles & Dimensions.
In this video we will describe how to populate a SolidWorks drawing file with your first part.  We start with a discussion on your template file and paper size then import your part into the three primary views and the Front-Top-Right Isometric view.  With the Layer toolbar - we add two new layers – the Sheet Notes layer - in green - and the Dimension layer in red (these print out in grey scale).  We then add View Titles and Dimensions.  Then we turn around and take a closer look at our drawing and see how we can organize our annotations for a better organized and easier to read drawing.  Other similar videos, as a follow up to this one, include Making modifications to the Title Block, and other View Layout options.

Video 218. Online SolidWorks - 42 - Drawings Part 2: Title Block Changes, Temporary Drawing Template File.
In this video we will show you how to take an existing SolidWorks Drawing or template file - with a part inserted in it – and make modifications to the Title Block so that it can be used from project to project.  Normally this file would be saved as a SolidWorks Template file *.slddot on the computer hard drive but in the CAD lab you will have to save it as a SolidWorks drawing file *slddrw, which works almost as well.

Video 219. Online SolidWorks - 43 - Drawings Part 3: View Layouts, Like Windows to View Your Model.
In this video we will discuss the different View Layout options for use in a drawing.  View Layouts, in a SolidWorks drawing can be considered as perhaps windows to view your model from different angles.  These View Layouts include the Standard 3 Views, the Model View (allowing the placement of many views, one after another), the Projected View (the view off the projection of an existing view), the Auxiliary View (projected off of an angled edge on an existing view), the various forms of the Section View (the big cut), the Detail View (getting close), Breakout Section (what’s inside), Break View (making a long view shorter), the Crop View (seeing only what is needed) and with an assembly model the Alternate Position View (seeing an assembly part in different positions).
